SOAL DAN JAWABAN BAHASA INGGRIS

Bahasa inggris
In winter there is snow on the mountains. When spring comes ad the sun comes out, it shines onto the snow. The snow melts. The melting snow turns into water and flows off the mountain and enters the rivers. The huge amount of water makes the water level rise.
If rocks and concreted areas surround rivers they can cause floods. If it rains the rain falls onto the rock. Nothing can soak up the water. The water flows down the rocks and onto the river.
When it rains for a long time the huge amount of rain cannot soak into the soil. The water forms small stream. The streams all need to the main river and feed it. As the water enters the river, the water level rises. If there is not a dam on the bank of the river the river will flood.
During spring while the rivers are still blocked by ice, floods occur in siberia. The snow melts but the river is unable to flow because of the ice. The river stops and builds up. When it gets up as high as the ice, it is already so high that it causes a flood.
Though floods occur in most parts of the world they do not occur very oten. In the past 250 years there were 150 major floods. The most flood-prone river is the huang he river (also called the yellow river and china’s sorrow) which is located in northern china.

There are differences of opinions on the avian flu. Some said this could 150 million deaths but there are others who said current alarm on avian flu is unwarranted as there is no proof of spreading between humans.
According to united nations chief coordination on bird flu said 150 million or more could die from the disease if a pandemic strikes.
One of the frightening issues for a human flu pandemic arising from avian influenza is its unpredictability. It’s difficult to estimate the death toll should H5N1    virus mutates into a form, which can be easily trasmitted between human. It is not possible to predict whether a pandemic would occur once or it would repeat. However, an epidemiologist recommended that the governments should take every possible precaution against the threat of bird flu, seriously.
Contrary to all dire tasks about avian flu pandemic coming, an ecologist dismissed the current panic as unsubstantiated and guess work.
Ecologist commented that H5N1 virus still remains a bird virus nd has no scientific evidences of human to human transmission. There are billion of people across asia which only 118 are reported being effected by avian flu. So how do they calculate to snow that 150 million or more deaths will come from avian flu. The global panic, accroding to the ecologist, is the result of ‘’scare tactics’’ created by politicians, medical officers, and the media.
It is premature to predict the outcome of avian flu until health scientist could confirm the possibility of human to human transmission. The advice is to keep cool and DON’T PANIC because if you do, you will weaken your resistance and reduce your immune system.

Lightening has been a mystery since olden times. People of the ancient society believed that angry gods threw lightning bolts from the sky. Nobody understood that lightening resulted from electricity until ben franklin flew a kite in the sky with a key dangling from the string and it was stuck by lightning.
In recent years it is known that lightening has a very scientific cause. Generally within storm cloud, friction from water and ice laden clouds creates a negative charge grows  too great for air to hold it back, it is united with the positive charge from the earth, creating a channel of electricity that flows between the two points. The charge remains invisible as it moves towards the ground until it meets the charge rising from the ground. Once they thunder. In fact, it has been discovered that sometimes the positive charges appear at the bottom of the cloud, which are met by negative charges from the earth.
Generally people are injured by lightening when they are in an open near or in water or near tall structures like trees. Golfers, swimmers, beach-goers and outdoor workers are in greatest danger. The greatest number of victims is males, but it is believed that because males are more likely to be in places where strikes lightning. When lightning is about to strike, one feels a strange tingling sensation, and one’s hair stands. Of course, there is still little chance to do anything about it because the full blow will occur in a second and is over in a couple of seconds.
